New York, NY and Reston, VA (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

Application Security, Inc. (AppSecInc), the leading provider of database security solutions for the enterprise, and Carahsoft Technology Corp., the trusted government IT solutions provider, today announced a partnership through which the companies will make AppSecInc’s industry-leading database security software and services available to the public sector via Carahsoft’s GSA schedule.

“In an effort to improve efficiency and deliver additional value to our public sector business and channel partners, we have named Carahsoft Technology as our U.S. government master aggregator,” said Neil Herron, Vice President of Federal Sales, AppSecInc. “We look forward to leveraging Carahsoft’s proven government expertise, its proactive sales and marketing activities, and its extensive ecosystem of partners to further increase demand for our solutions.”

AppSecInc products allow organizations to cost-effectively meet regulatory mandates and secure sensitive data. They help organizations understand their database ecosystem, focus on suspicious and unauthorized database activity and streamline operations through a unique approach called precision database activity monitoring.

“AppSecInc’s product line is the most broadly deployed database security solution in the government sector,” said Michael Shrader, Vice President of Innovative Solutions at Carahsoft. “The award-winning technology empowers agencies to assess, monitor and protect their most critical database assets in real time, while simplifying audits, monitoring risk, and automating compliance requirements. We are excited to expand our portfolio of cyber security solutions with their award-winning technology and to make it available to our partners and customers.”

AppSecInc’s database security platform, DbProtect, helps organizations gain control of their database processes to cost-effectively meet regulatory mandates and secure sensitive data. DbProtect integrates automated database discovery and asset management, vulnerability management, database activity monitoring, audit and threat management, active threat response, policy management, and reporting and analytics to enable proactive remediation of vulnerabilities and the implementation of compensating controls for issues that cannot be immediately fixed. DbProtect scales easily to address the needs of small to medium-sized organizations as well as large enterprises and government agencies.

AppDetectivePro is a database scanning and vulnerability assessment solution used by corporate auditors, IT advisors, and Federal Government Office of Inspector Generals (OIGs) to audit and assess database security issues. IT auditors and advisors, regardless of skill level, can perform easy and repeatable database security assessments, capture all results for manual control checks, and generate compliance reports.

AppSecInc has a strong presence within U.S. Federal Government Agencies that deploy AppDetectivePro or DbProtect to meet their database security and compliance requirements. AppSecInc’s presence within the Inspector General community creates substantial demand for DbProtect and AppDetectivePro from line organizations subject to database security audits. DbProtect demand is also driven by government agencies looking to adhere to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Continuous Monitoring mandates.

In December 2011, AppSecInc’s DbProtect, received a Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) from the U.S. Army, approving its use in the Army Enterprise Infrastructure (AEI) and in earlier this month the U.S. Air Force once again selected AppDetectivePro and DbProtect as the database security cornerstones for its Software Assurance Center of Excellence (ASACoE).

AppSecInc’s products are available on Carahsoft GSA Schedule GS-35F-0119Y. To learn more about how these solutions can improve your agency’s database security, register for a complimentary webcast, “Database Security and the OMB Mandate for Continuous Compliance,” to be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT, on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. To register or for more information, contact Steve Jacyna at Carahsoft at 703-871-8680.

Cymbet EnerChip Smart Solid State Batteries

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) May 08, 2012

Cymbet Corporation announced today that they are teaming with Micross Components to distribute and package Cymbet’s entire family of EnerChip™ Smart Solid State Batteries and ultra low power management IC solutions in bare die form. Cymbet’s EnerChips are constructed on silicon wafers using semiconductor processing techniques which make them perfect for co-packaging with other Integrated Circuits carried on the Micross line card. Energy storage can now be embedded directly into a single miniature multi-chip package. Embedded energy opens up new innovative product capabilities that previously could not be realized with legacy energy storage devices.

“Micross Components is an ideal partner for Cymbet as they specialize in bare die distribution and hi-reliability microelectronics component assembly and integration,” said Bill Priesmeyer Cymbet CEO. “The aim of Micross is to provide a single solution to a customer’s requirements and now they can offer integrated EnerChip batteries that will solve previously unmet needs.”

EnerChips Go Where Batteries and Super Caps Can Not

The EnerChip Solid State batteries have a footprint as small as the CBC005 bare die that is 1.375mm by 0.85mm by 200 microns thick. CBC012 and CBC050 provide more energy storage in similarly small footprints. In addition, Micross will be offering the CBC910 EnerChip power management IC bare die that provides all the functions listed in the Cymbet EnerChip CC series of products. Background information on EnerChip bare die can be found at http://www.cymbet.com/products/embedded-energy.php.

“We are extraordinarily pleased to have Cymbet as our embedded energy partner,” said Tony Hamby Micross General Manager. “Combining the EnerChip battery line with the wide range of components that we already offer in die format, enhances our ability to act as a comprehensive IC solutions provider to the high-reliability markets we support—defense, space, medical, oil and energy exploration.”

Evaluate EnerChips as Packaged Parts Before Designing with Bare Die

Cymbet makes it easy to experiment with EnerChip solid state batteries before utilizing bare die by using one of two EnerChip CC evaluation kits:

CBC-EVAL-05 EnerChip CC Evaluation Kit contains everything needed to test EnerChip 12uAh and 50uAh thin film batteries, EnerChip CC CBC3112 and CBC3150 batteries with Integrated Battery Management, and multiple batteries in parallel. This kit will also include a CBC3105 evaluation board for experimenting with this tiny 4mm x 5mm packaged device. Using an EnerChip bare die solution from Micross is an even smaller footprint implementation.

CBC-EVAL-06 Real-Time-Clock Evaluation Kit: includes a Microcrystal NV2123 Real-Time Clock device and a CBC3112 EnerChip CC for battery backup. This kit also includes a Windows based Graphical User Interface to set the clock & test RTC operation in backup and count-down modes.

“Included with all Cymbet evaluation kits are full datasheets and application notes that include reference designs and schematics,” said Steve Grady, VP Marketing at Cymbet. “We provide all the information designers need for easy EnerChip bare die integration into their new products on http://www.cymbet.com.”

(PRWEB UK) 4 May 2012

The current Nicolites Disposable is already widely used in the UK and is available to purchase through pharmacies and convenience stores nationwide. This two piece device lasts 25 cigarettes and comes ready to use of the shelf.

Nikhil Nathwani, Managing Director for Nicolites tells us more about the new and improved device;

“At Nicolites we are very quick to jump on technological advancements in the e-cigarette industry, but only do so once we are 100% convinced that we are able to achieve what we promise. The New Nicolites Disposable e cigarette now lasts a staggering 40 cigarettes, as oppose to the previous model which lasted 25. In addition we have now made this in to a 1-piece product to make it even more convenient to use. The length of the cigarette has been shortened as much as we can without diminishing the length of time it would last and we have also increase the strengths and flavours it is available in. The current model only comes in tobacco flavour high strength, whereas now we have tobacco and menthol flavours in both high and medium strengths”.

Birju Pujara, Sales Director for Nicolites added, “We are very excited about our new range of electric cigarettes. Whilst we have improved our disposable model dramatically, the point we are very proud of, is that we have done so without having to raise the price of the product. This is the first in a line of new products we are launching over coming weeks. Our understanding of what our customers are looking for coupled with our drive to bring to market the latest advancements in electronic cigarettes has made our range of products a bit hit among smokers in the UK”.

The new Nicolites Disposable electronic cigarette is due to hit their online store as well as the long list of retailers that they currently supply from next week.

Nicolites is now the leading and most widely available brand of electric cigarette in the UK; they have formed business partnerships with many of the largest retailers to bring these wonderful innovations right on to the doorstep of every person in the country. Established in late 2007, Nicolites has grown into a multi-million pound company with international distribution networks and continues to grow at a phenomenal rate.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

WorldatWork, a global human resources association, submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division voicing concerns that the draft regulations may create unforeseen challenges for employers’ compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The proposed rules are in response to the passage of the Airline Flight Crews Technical Act and the National Defense Authorization Act of 2010. WorldatWork strongly supports the expansion of FMLA protections to these industries.

“WorldatWork is pleased the Department of Labor is seeking comments on these important changes to the FMLA, however we have serious concerns about the scope and real-world implication these proposed regulations could have on employers,” said Cara Woodson Welch, Vice President, Policy and Public Affairs.

WorldatWork has engaged in regular data collection efforts regarding FMLA practices and perspectives during the past decade, including member surveys in 2005, 2008, and 2012. Ninety-five percent of Fortune 500 companies have at least one employee who is a WorldatWork member.

WorldatWork’s primary issue with the proposed regulations concerns the elimination of language allowing for flexibility around the administration of Intermittent or Reduced Schedule Leave for all employees covered by the FMLA.

Based on data around employers’ FMLA practices and perspectives, WorldatWork recommends that the Department not delete the provision from the regulations to ensure employers maintain the flexibility they need to meet their business needs.

WorldatWork is additionally concerned that the proposed changes to the Eligible Employee section of FMLA may create confusion over when FMLA protection is triggered.

“Clarity in regulations such as these is critical for employers and HR professionals who will be responsible for implementing the final rules,” said Welch. “WorldatWork aims to assist the Department of Labor in fine tuning the proposed regulations so that the final rules will be workable for employers and employees.”

Inspirational Charm Necklace for Barbara Lampgnale on The Shark Tank

Savannah, GA (PRWEB) April 27, 2012

Barbara Lampugnale came up with an innovative twist on nail polish. That idea gave her an opportunity to appear on the wildly popular show, “The Shark Tank”. To commemorate her experience, Barbara wanted to make a special necklace. Her searches for custom jewelry led her to Metalpressions.com, a small jewelry business that has developed an exclusive online jewelry design tool.

“When Barbara approached us, we had no idea she had just finished taping her appearance on The Shark Tank. She called us up and we talked for a while. We really connected with each other because we are both entrepreneurs at heart,” recalled Andreas and Elisha Argentinis, co-founders and owners of Savannah, Georgia-based Metal Pressions.

“Barbara had all these great ideas for a custom charm necklace with sayings that helped keep her motivated on her journey. As we talked, I mocked up her ideas with our online jewelry design software. She pulled the design up on her screen and did some tweaking herself. I think she was ecstatic that she could have a preview in minutes,” stated Andreas.

“After years of hard work and sacrifice, I wanted to commemorate my journey and appearance on The Shark Tank by creating a charm necklace with my favorite inspirational words and sayings. I found Metalpressions.com and was so thrilled that I could easily use their online jewelry design software. This enabled me to create and design my own charms and see what my necklace would look like before I made my purchase. When my necklace arrived, it was exactly how I envisioned it. I was so impressed and filled with emotion. It was hands down the best jewelry shopping experience I have ever had. Elisha and Andreas were such a pleasure to work with. I think if they went into the Shark Tank they might just start a feeding frenzy!” said Barbara Lampugnale, The Shark Tank participant whose episode airs Friday April 27th.

Elisha and Andreas’ experience with Metal Pressions is the quintessential small business success story. Prior to establishing Metal Pressions, both Elisha and Andreas had successful careers in the corporate world – - Elisha in pharmaceutical research and Andreas in internet marketing and manufacturing – - yet neither felt “fulfilled” by their work.

In 2004, Elisha and Andreas relocated from Fairfield, Connecticut to Savannah, Georgia. At the time, Andreas was in operations management in the manufacturing sector and Elisha had taken a break from the corporate treadmill to start a family. A biology major with a creative flair, Elisha had been making and selling custom crafts and jewelry items for several years. Her hobby provided a creative out¬let as well as “fun money” for the young family.

By 2008, demand for Elisha’s custom-made jewelry items was consuming more and more of the couple’s time and energy. After discussing various “quality of life” issues impacting their soon-to-be family of five, the couple made a life-changing decision: they would opt out of the corporate world and devote their full-time energies to turning Elisha’s hobby into a bona-fide business enterprise. Combining Elisha’s artistic talents with Andreas’ background in business, manufacturing and internet marketing was the perfect match of skills and experience.

Andreas spent much of their first year as a serious entrepreneur researching the custom & hand stamped jewelry industry; however, he continually ran into two major road-blocks: geographic constraints of being located in a small Southern market, and the restrictive and limited design options available via existing online jewelry makers.

As the fledgling entrepreneurs discussed different business strategies, they kept coming back to the concept of an online free-form design tool allowing users to layout and design custom jewelry without restrictions or limitations. As they talked, the idea for a revolutionary online jewelry design tool was beginning to form and their business model was solidifying.

At the end of 2011, after three years of research and development, Metal Pressions launched their ground-breaking online WYSIWIG (what you see is what you get) jewelry design platform. The software is user friendly, highly intuitive and provides each customer the ability to design, online, the exact piece of jewelry they envision in their own mind. With no limitations and no restrictions, the online jewelry design tool goes wherever the customers’ imagination leads them.

After the customer designs their personalized piece, Elisha and Andreas faithfully recreate their vision in gold and/or silver. Every order is a handmade original and each character and symbol is created by individual craftsman’s tools. While Metal Pressions standard line of jewelry and accessories includes gold necklaces, bracelets, pendants, charms, key chains, tie bars, money clips, cufflinks, their creations are limited only by the customers’ imagination.

As word of Elisha’s quality creations continues to spread, Andreas sees the launching of the new online design tool for designer personalized jewelry as a whole new chapter for the family business. MetalPressions.com has taken the time-honored trade of jewelry making and blended it with modern technology to offer an unprecedented shopping experience with amazing results.

Visit http://www.metalpressions.com/ojd.aspx and see what your imagination can create. Then let Metal Pressions do the rest.

Product/Service:

Custom jewelry design & creation. Using a one-of-a-kind free-form online tool, customers create designs for artisan Elisha Argentinis to bring to life. Unlike any online jewelry design service on the market today, Metal Pressions proprie¬tary software tool allows customers to design their exact visions. The custom piece then created by Elisha truly matches the customer’s vision and is a unique handmade original work of art.

Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Mow More Supplies offers several tips for commercial lawn mowing contractors to help them purchase quality mower blades that will stay sharp longer and keep their client’s lawns green even under the most difficult weather conditions.

1. Use top quality commercial mower blades that are made from quality steel, heat treated to the optimum hardness.

2. Decide whether you are going to purchase an O.E.M. blade or an aftermarket blade. O.E.M. refers to the original equipment manufacturer (e.g. ExmarkTM, ScagTM, WalkerTM). O.E.M. mower blades are what come on your original equipment. As an alternative, you can feel comfortable using aftermarket blades purchased from a reputable supplier. Aftermarket blades are made to the same exacting specifications as the O.E.M. commercial mower blade and are often manufactured in the same plants.

3. It is important that you purchase commercial mower blades that are an exact match for the blade you are replacing. For instance, you never want to use a blade specified for a ScagTM lawnmower on an ExmarkTM mower or vice versa. To use anything less than the correct commercial mower blade is not only dangerous, but may also void any manufacturers’ warranties.

4. Consider trying a set of commercial high-lift or GatorTM blades on your mower. In the right conditions they may save you some additional work as they provide optimum grass lift and increase air flow under the deck which may help prevent plugging up the discharge chute when bagging in difficult conditions.

5. Given the importance of quality of grass cut and crew safety… price is the last piece of the puzzle in purchasing commercial blades that you should probably consider. That being said, it is possible to save significant money by purchasing top quality aftermarket commercial lawn mower blades from reputable suppliers.

The general rules of thumb for purchasing top quality commercial mower blades is to buy from a reputable source, use blades made specifically for your mower, make sure you have the correct commercial blade by matching the O.E.M. numbers supplied by the dealer or aftermarket supplier and consider saving some money by looking at the large selection of quality aftermarket blades available. Following these few simple tips will make for both happy lawns and safe lawn mowing conditions for your team.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 17, 2012

Despite the rise in gas prices, consumers adapted and increased spending as retail sales exceeded projections in March (Bloomberg News). This trend is expected to continue with shoppers inheriting an average tax return of $ 3,000 (IRS.gov) this Tax Day. CouponTrade.com, the secure marketplace for discount gift cards, wants to offer ways to help consumers stretch the value of their 2012 tax return.

Plan ahead and save on vacation: Since 11.9 percent of consumers will spend their tax returns on vacations (National Retail Federation), consumers should consider buying tickets ahead of time to save before prices increase. Airfare prices fluctuate based on gas prices and availability, so it is best to buy tickets ahead of time. A round trip flight from Chicago to San Diego for the first weekend in June might be $ 500 in mid-April, but given the cost of fuel, it could skyrocket to at least $ 700 by mid-May.

Save at the store with gift cards in large denominations: With a portion of the tax return, discount gift cards with large values can be bought online and used with in store specials to stack savings. Gift cards can also be paired with manufacturers and in store coupons to make an item be had for less, which puts more money back in the hands of consumers.

Check for discounts before doing home improvements: The amount issued in a tax return can serve as a starting point for families who are looking to do upgrades to their homes. Projects like installing a new front door, upgrading lighting, replacing windows and finishing an office can be done for half of the tax return, with the other half going to savings. Working with the existing components of a home can keep the price of upgrades reasonable, as can checking online for coupon codes to hardware stores.

Shop online and make retail prices optional: The remaining value of the tax return can be used to take advantage of all the options for saving when shopping online. Gone are the days of going to the store and doing price checks, since CouponTrade hosts opportunities for savings in one central location and can be accessed online or from a smartphone. For instance, if a shopper is looking at a suit that costs $ 125, it can be lowered to $ 110 with a gift card and free shipping coupon, making paying retail prices an option when shopping online.

“Nearly two-thirds of Americans are expecting a tax return this tax season,” CEO and founder George Bousis said. “Since the majority will spend what they get back, they should consider stretching the refund to get more for less.”

For more information on how to stretch your return this tax season, visit coupontrade.com.

About CouponTrade Inc.
Since the Chicago-based startup’s inception in May 2011, the site has grown from a marketplace consumers could list and sell their unwanted gift cards and daily deals to helping its users get a deal on everyday purchases. It is CouponTrade’s mission to help consumers take advantage of savings – free money that should never go to waste.
